Midboss studio announced Read Only Memories: Neurodiver for PC and Mac. The game, launching in 2020, is a sequel to the 2015-released 2064: Read Only Memories.
Read Only Memories: Neurodiver is a cyberpunk detective and visual novel game where we control ES88, an Esper. ES88 is on a mission to chase the Golden Butterfly, a powerful rogue telepath. Golden Butterfly is hiding in the memories of the inhabitants of Neo San Francisco. As ES88, players will need to dive into people’s memories with the Neurodiver, a genetically engineered psionic creature.By passing as other people in their memories, alternating those memories and gaining information, we’ll be able to solve the case of the Golden Butterfly.
It’s also worth mentioning that ROM Neurodiver and its prequel are taking place in the same world as VA-11 HALL-A, another acclaimed cyberpunk visual novel, not by Midboss, but developed by Sukaban Games.
I’ll be definitely playing the previous game and keep an eye on this one. Partly because the main character has the same hairstyle as Haman from Zeta Gundam, and because cyberpunk visual novels more often than not are really cool.
