This year has seen some great story driven titles that take place in gorgeous sweeping landscapes where emotions are running high and heart-strings are tugged upon. With that in mind, it’s nice to indulge in something entirely different; and Razed fully intends on being exactly that.
Developed by Brittish development outfit Warpfish Games and published by PQube Games, Razed is a high-intensity 3D platformer. The aim of the game is simple, get from A to B as fast as you can. However, it’s not quite that easy as in order to reach your destination you must bound off vertical surfaces, avoid being flattened by gargantuan crushing devices, activate switches, and weave in and out of danger; all while sprinting at breakneck speeds.
The entire game is designed to be a sensory overload; from the brightly lit neon aesthetic to the electronic soundtrack. Along the way, abilities can be obtained to help you tighten that speedrun time, but these are used at the cost of the player’s momentum. There are shortcuts to be discovered and even bosses to do battle with along the way as you traverse more than 60 levels.
Razed lands on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today. The eyeball sheering platformer is also available on Xbox One and PC.
