The tragic outbreak of wildfires in Australia is responsible for the deaths of at least twenty-five people and has also claimed the lives of half a billion animals. The destruction has spread over millions of acres and is still ravaging the country, destroying anything in its path. To put the magnitude in perspective, the fires have scorched an area twice the size of the state of Maryland. Thankfully, US-based publisher Crytivo best known for their Planet Management God-Game The Universim has stepped up to help those affected by the catastrophic fires with Mission Koala.
Mision Koala will donate 100% of net revenue from the online Crytivo Store as well as 30% of all Steam sales. During the next two months, the proceeds generated from Mission Koala will go towards rebuilding lost homes, assisting firefighters working overtime and environmental cleanup. While Crytivo may be a small company, it’s terrific that they are striving to make a difference in the world. Project Koala is an admirable attempt that hopefully more of the video game industry will follow.
Alongside the announcement, the Founder and CEO of Crytivo Alex Koshelkov issued a short and sweet message:
Ours hearts go out to everyone who has suffered from this disaster and to the heroes working tirelessly to help. We hope this will inspire others to take action and help in any way they can.
The gaming community has always stepped up to help others in need, whether it is big publishers or hit content creators. Just this week, members of the Overwatch and Apex Legends communities have been vocal in trying to get publishers EA and Blizzard to create exclusive skins with all proceeds going to Australian relief. On the content creator side, popular YouTube personality Dunkey managed to raise $25,000 for Rescue Committee by ‘suffering’ through Super Seducer 2.
They say every penny counts, so if you are looking for a way to help, please support Australia by supporting both Project Koala and Australia. It’s a win-win situation, feel good about helping the world and get some great games such as The Universim and Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse.
