Do you like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds? Do you like getting supply drops? How about starting off a match with three of them? If you answered yes to any of the previous questions you’ll be happy to learn that PUBG added a loot cave complete with three airdrop supply crates filled with the game’s best gear.
All you need is either a grenade, a car, or a whole lot of courage.
PUBG Corp. released a new trailer recently that teased the location of this loot cave. It’s on the north-eastern corner of the game’s newest map, Vikendi, and is hidden behind some walls. You can check out the teaser trailer for the cave below.
There are three entrances to the cave that are comprised of collapsible rocks. In order to gain entry, you need to huck a grenade at one of the walls or drive through them with a vehicle. If you’re like a lot of people though, you can just drop there straight away and let someone else do your dirty work.
The cave was first added on the PUBG Test Server on PC and was a nightmare to play with. Almost the entire plane of 100 people would jump out in order to reach the cave. This leads the starting player count to dwindle down to 60 or less before the first circle even closes.
After putting in more than 20 hours with the loot cave in the game, I can safely say it has a negative impact on overall gameplay. While it’s cool that a hidden area of the map exists, because worldbuilding is cool, having players fight over guaranteed loot spawns is contrary to PUBG‘s core mechanics.
In addition, the fewer players that are left alive towards the beginning of the game means that PUBG‘s notorious boring middlegame is made even worse. Hopefully the crates are removed from the game, but for now, make sure you can enjoy having an AWM and Level 3 everything before the next update rolls around.
In case you didn’t catch the most recent update to the game, it adds a whole lot of new features including a new canted sight attachment which is poised to change the game’s meta for the better.
