Yesterday, Square Enix announced the open beta for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, and today they released a batch of screenshots showcasing its features.
We get to see the Class Match mode featuring 3 vs. 3 combat, the Rush Battle mode in which a single player can fight against the AI, the customization feature that lets you select EX skills, character skins, chat emotes and more, the story mode that lets you unlock several cutscenes as you level up, and the treasures.
Before you pull out those pitchforks when you see that the treasures are basically a gacha mode (IE: loot boxes), they unlock exclusively cosmetic items, and are earned by playing matches. You can even unlock specific items by spending gil also earned by playing.
The open beta will happen from December 23rd to December 24th, from December 30th to December 31st, and from January 6th to January 7th. During all three timeframes, testing will be open between 6 PM and 11 PM Japan Time, which translates into 9 AM to 2 PM GMT and 1 AM to 6 AM PST. For now, it has been announced only for Japan, but if the western arms of Square Enix don’t follow through, you’ll be able to play simply by using a Japanese PSN account.
