In an interview with VGC, Platinum Games’ Atsushi Inaba says it’s up to Nintendo on whether or not Astral Chain comes to other platforms.

“Ultimately it’s Nintendo’s call, not ours,” says Inaba. “They own the publishing rights to Astral Chain so we really have no say in that matter. We consider The Wonderful 101 an exclusive case.”

When asked if Astral Chain could be viable for the developer, Inaba says that it’s hard to say if a single game can save a company. While it’s good that Astral Chain was successful for them, Inaba says they want to make the best games possible.

“In the case of Astral Chain, it’s an IP that’s half owned by Platinum and half by Nintendo,” continues Inaba. “So right now it just came out and it’s too early to say. For the time being we’re just hoping that it’s a success for the Nintendo Switch and we’ll see how it goes from there.”

The big Platinum Games news of the week was the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for The Wonderful 101, one of several Wii U games that haven’t made their way to the Switch. In addition to the Switch, the game will come to the PlayStation 4 and PC. Since the Kickstarter’s launch, the game has raised over $1.3 million dollars, with the original stretch goal starting at $49,555 dollars. Alongside news of The Wonderful 101 and Astral Chain, Platinum Games says they’d like to make Scalebound but it’s up to Microsoft for them to continue development on it.

Astral Chain is available now on Nintendo Switch. You can get it on Amazon now. The Kickstarter page for The Wonderful 101 is still open for those that want to contribute to its development.
