Snail Games’ voxel based survival game PixARK has been in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview since last March. Today, the developer finally revealed today that the game would be exiting the PC and Xbox One early access programs and releasing for Nintendo Switch and PS4 as well on May 31.
While the game will only be available digitally on PC, a retail release is planned for all consoles. As you could see in the launch trailer above, PixARK is attempting to take a bite of the Minecraft market while still splicing in some of its own unique flair. In addition to the character creation tools, building mechanics, and dungeons players have come to expect from games like this, PixARK includes procedurally generated quests for players to go on either alone or with friends as well as the ability to tame over 100 different animals, including the T-Rex.
The voxel look of PixARK also gives the game a smoother and sleeker aesthetic than Minecraft at first glance. If you are getting somewhat tired of Minecraft and are looking for another similar title that is more structured and features some other unique mechanics of its own, PixARK seems like it will be a good option.
