Today Atlus USA announced with a press release that its super-popular JRPG Persona 5 reached a new sales milestone.
According to the publisher, the game has now shipped over two million copies worldwide.
The press release also included a statement from Atlus USA President and CEO Naoto Hiraoka, who mentioned that interest in Japanese games is growing.
“This has been an incredible year for our company, one that represents our ambitions for Japanese games in the west. We are in the middle of experiencing tremendous growth, both in the west and abroad, and the sales of Persona 5 represent a new level of expectation for fans of the genre. Once seen as niche, Persona 5 is one of the most important titles this year, proving interest in this category is expanding. We look forward to delivering more incredible games to our fans next year.”
Persona 5 is currently available for PS4 and PS3, and if you’re not familiar with the game you can read our review. Just this morning, we learned that Sony awarded one of its User’s Choice Awards to the game for the second year in a row, which is a very unique achievement.
On top of that, we recently saw some really beautiful figures of Makoto and Futaba coming soon to the Japanese market.
