Kadokawa and railway operator Tokyu Corporation announced a Persona 5 Royal (PS4, PS5) riddle game rally taking place in the train stations of the the Tokyu Toyoko Line. The game is titled the Tokyu Line Riddle Game Rally x Persona 5 The Royal Mysterious Railway QQQ. It’s pronounced “three Q” and probably a reference to Leiji Matsumoto’s Galaxy Express 999, which is pronounced “three nine”.

Long story short, it’s a riddle solving game coupled with a stamp rally. At the counter of each station in the Tokyu line (Except Setagaya and Kodomonokuni) you’ll be able to buy a special “mystery solving kit”. The kit contains a QR code and a bag with a new original illustration featuring Joker and Goro. Scanning the QR code will lead you to the riddle game’s site, where you’ll be given instructions and riddles, with all the Persona 5 Royal characters appearing, and addressing you as Joker. You’ll need to solve the riddles to progress in the story, and the riddles will consist of finding and scanning specific panels hidden in Tokyu line stations.

The Tokyu Line Riddle Game Rally x Persona 5 The Royal – Mysterious Railway QQQ – will start on December 26, and last until March 16, 2021. You’d have a bit more than three months to travel to Japan and try the riddle game out if we weren’t in a pandemic.

A riddle solving kit is 3700 Yen tax included, and it’ll include the Clear File bag, a One Day Pass for the Tokyu line, a booklet to write things down for the riddles, and a pegcil. A sample illustration of the clear file bag, featuring Joker and Goro, and the pass, featuring Joker and Morgana, were revealed.

The pass allows you to travel all of Tokyu line for free for one day. The official press release explained the game can take from 3 to 5 hours at most, depending on whether you manage quickly solve the riddles and find the panels or not. There’s no time limit, so most P5 fans should be able to clear it and have a good time.

The official website of the Persona 5 Royal riddle game rally also includes a story pitch. We translated it below:

One day, the Phantom Thieves of Heart are gathered by famous high school detective Goro Akechi. He explains that a mysterious document was sent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The Phantom Thieves, who were about to enter a very important operation, decide to solve this case first, cooperating with Akechi to find the sender of this mysterious message. The action takes place on the Tokyu line, and many mysteries await…
Acting as the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Heart, can you solve all the mysteries in your path?

Screenshots from the story were shared too. It’s truncated and context less, but it seems to be the beginning of the story. Ryuji is surprised Goro is the one who summoned everyone. Goro, as someone who entered a deal with the Phantom Thieves, asks them to help solve the case. Judging from all this, this seems to take place right before the casino, which must be the “big operation” the story pitch mentions. Personally speaking, I highly recommend not thinking hard about all this, whether these kind of collab event’s stories are “canon” or not, etc. I’m sure no one at Atlus even asked themselves in the first place.

Persona 5 Scramble The Phantom Strikers was recently officially announced in America and Europe for February 23, 2021. Under the new name Persona 5 Strikers. The most surprising thing is that it’s also coming to Steam, alongside Switch and PS4. Atlus recently published some sales numbers regarding P5R and P5S in Japan and Asia as well.
