In a new Best Buy ad for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Persona 5 protagonist Joker’s fighter render is revealed and it’s as stylish as you’d imagine:
The image above is most likely his Super Smash Bros. amiibo design, which is always based on the in-game main render of the fighter. So now, thanks to this ad’s render, we have a good first look at what he’ll look like once the first DLC pack launches.
Joker was announced as the first DLC character for the long-running franchise back in December during the Video Game Awards, just before the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. It was also revealed that a stage based on Persona 5 would make its way into the title.
Since that announcement, fans have taken to social media to express their excitement over seeing the hero of Persona 5 in such a popular fighting game series. Of course, this led to some fun and often hilarious fanart and comics poking fun at Persona 5’s mechanics and how they would apply to the Super Smash Bros. roster. Including the theory that Yoshi has been committing tax fraud this whole time.
Later on, during a February Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Joker and the other DLC fighters in the first DLC pack would make their debut by the end of April. The downloadable characters and a host of other improvements (which Nintendo has been tight-lipped about since the Direct) will all be dropping in the Version 3.0 update. Unfortunately, no new gameplay of him has been shown as of now but considering how hard director Masahiro Sakurai works at creating and balancing his characters, Joker is assured to be a crowd pleaser.
If you somehow haven’t picked up your copy of Persona 5 yet, you can support Atlus and the franchise by picking up the game on Amazon. The game is available exclusively on PS4 and PS3, with more information on Persona 5: The Royal around the corner. Meanwhile, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch, and can be purchased via Amazon.
