Are you looking to jump-start your morning with a blast of enthusiasm? Bandai Namco released the opening cinematic to One Piece World Seeker and it is non-stop action. Skydiving, wall-running, and combat, Luffy is not pulling any punches in the opening of his new game.
Seen in the video below, the cinematic begins with Luffy falling from the sky, only to absorb the ground impact of Prison Island. Quickly picking up the attention of the Navy (how would he not?), he is chased through the streets, swinging from rooftop to rooftop, and passing by familiar faces of the series (yes — including Nami). It’s not too long he ends up in what seems like a final battle, cutting to a gravestone — ultimately a fake-out because this is an opening cinematic.
Worth noting, the sound, animation, and music of the cinematic look great. Obviously, this is an opening cinematic, so we can expect quality differences between the main-game and this cutscene. However, if we are getting close to this, fans of the series will undoubtedly be happy.
If you haven’t been following One Piece World Seeker, it’s had a bit of a bumpy development cycle. Originally slated for a 2018 release, the game was ultimately delayed to 2019 so Bandai Namco and developer Ganbarion could further improve on the game. That release date would eventually settle on March 15, 2019, a note revealed in a trailer from mid-November. But that extra time marinating seems to be paying off — the PS4 gameplay and Sakazuki boss battle looks fantastic in some exclusive footage DualShockers recorded at Gamescom 2018.
As mentioned above, One Piece World Seeker is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 15, 2019; if you are holding out for a Nintendo Switch version, it hasn’t been formally revealed but isn’t entirely out of the question. If you need some more Luffy in your life, feel free to pre-order the game from Amazon. Otherwise, check out the opening cinematic below:
