Could it really be? Could the orange marsupial I adore be coming back with a brand new game? According to numerous rumors, there very well could be a new Crash Bandicoot on the horizon.
One of the suggested rumors comes from the “It’s Time to Play” TV commercial for PS4 which features a mask following kart riding Coco at the 0:11 mark. While the Aku Aku mask is an iconic mask in the Crash games, this particular one following Coco is apparently a brand new mask that hasn’t been seen before.
Character designer, Nicholas Kole at Toys for Bob posted a tweet with a simple thinking emoji after being asked on Twitter about the mask. While it’s not a confirmation of a new game it certainly caused interest among the community.

On November 14, an image surfaced of a new PS4 advertisement which features Crash Bandicoot on UK bus stops. Fans of the character are noticing that the character design looks a lot different from the N-Sane Trilogy version of the character, thus causing more speculation.
In addition, there have been rumors from the very source who accurately revealed both N-Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The rumor suggests the game will arrive in 2020 and is titled Crash Bandicoot Worlds after originally being titled CRASH8. It claims there are new masks and enemies being introduced to the universe and will be a semi-open world, similar to Mario 3D World.
The rumor also states both Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions are developing the game and have been showing it behind closed doors with an announcement planned for December 2019. Vicarious Visions have worked on Crash Nitro Kart as well as the N-Sane Trilogy that launched back in 2017. Toys for Bob have been behind Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the Skylanders games.
Personally, I would welcome a new Crash Bandicoot game in a heartbeat. While it was great to see him remastered, having an entirely new game is something I’ve been waiting for.
As always, with leaks and rumors, take them with a grain of salt and wait for an official announcement from the developers or publishers. Of course, I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled during The Game Awards to see if an official announcement takes place during the live stream.
