With the system coming up on one year since its debut, the Nintendo Switch has proven to be a versatile system as far as gaming goes thanks to stellar titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, and while Hulu is available on the system now, the question of whether the (arguably) largest streaming app — Netflix — is coming to the system still seems to be up in the air slightly.
In a statement to Polygon, Netflix confirmed that “we are still exploring the opportunity with Nintendo” in regard to bringing a streaming app to the Nintendo Switch, though the company confirmed that it has no “definitive plans to share at this time” as far as when the app might arrive for the system.
The statement in question came in response to a tweet from the official “@NetflixHelps” customer service Twitter account that said that “there are currently no plans for Netflix on Nintendo Switch” in response to a customer question (with the original tweet now deleted), which prompted the company to follow up with a more concrete statement about its plans to bring its services to the system.
Previously, Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime said that Netflix, Amazon Video, and other streaming apps “will come in time” for the Nintendo Switch, and while Netflix seems to be non-committal so far about bringing the app to the system right now, I think we’ll eventually see Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, and more available to watch on the system sometime down the line.
