We are less than a year away from the launch of the Intellivision Amico, though we haven’t heard much about the system recently outside of a website and storefront revamp. Today, Tommy Tallarico revealed on Twitter that the first Intellivision Amico game demo for the public will be released next week. The game in question is Moon Patrol: The Milky Way Chronicles and it will be playable in a very interesting way.
To try out Moon Patrol: The Milky Way Chronicles, interested players will have to download the Amico AR app and buy an official shirt with the Intellivision Amico logo on it. Once they have that, they must point their camera at the shirt and can play the demo right on top of it. This is certainly a quirky way to play a game, which is a statement that is emblematic of the Intellivision Amico as a whole. After one tries out the demo on the shirt, they will also be able to play it right in the app.
Moon Patrol: The Milky Way Chronicles seems to be a reimagining of the classic 1982 sci-fi arcade game by Arem. Remade classics like this are supposed to be a core pillar of the Amico’s library and will make up a fourth of its launch lineup. Tommy Tallarico confirmed that Moon Patrol: The Milky Way Chronicles will be a launch title as well, so it should be a pretty good indicator of what the Intellivision Amico will have to offer.
This Moon Patrol: The Milky Way Chronicles demo will become available on December 3, 2019 to celebrate Intellivision’s 40th anniversary. The Intellivision Amico itself is poised to come out on October 10, 2020.
