In what has quickly become a trend for major sports leagues, MLB The Show 20 is serving as the proving grounds for a new tournament filled with Major League Baseball players. All 30 teams are represented in the new Players League. For participating, the MLB, the MLB Players Association, and Sony Interactive Entertainment are donating a total of $175,000 to various Boys & Girls Club affiliates around the country. All in all, these tournaments featuring pro players have proven to be a great time for a great cause. Check it out below.

This new Players League is a bit different from tournaments being run in FIFA 20 or NBA 2K20. Instead of just being a simple elimination tournament, players will play through a full league in MLB The Show 20. Each player plays each other once in a three-inning game. Once league play wraps up, the top eight players advance to the post-season. Each round there is a best-of-three up until the World Series, which is a best-of-five.
As mentioned above, every MLB team is represented by one of their players. Some major stars like Blake Snell, Joey Gallo, Lucas Giolito, Jeff McNeil, and Juan Soto are repping their clubs. Interestingly, only eight of the players are aged under 25 years old. You might assume that the tournament would be made up of the most youthful players in baseball, but a few of the (relatively) elder statesman are making their presence known. In total, the player pool includes 11 All-Stars and five World Series winners, so quite the star-studded representation.
MLB The Show 20 is available now on PS4. The Players League kicks off coverage today on Twitch and YouTube. All 30 players will have their own stream going, so you’re free to watch whichever player you want.
