Just over a year after the game was first teased by Bertil Hörberg, Mechstermination Force finally got a release date today. The promising run ‘n gun boss rush Nindie inspired by games like Contra, Shadow of the Colossus, and Gunstar Heroes will be launching for Nintendo Switch on April 4, 2019.
This should be very exciting for Hörberg Productions’ fans, as it has been over four years since the release of its last new title, Gunman Clive 2. In the time between now and then, we’ve seen Gunman Clive HD Collection released for Wii U and then ported to Nintendo Switch several years later. Gunman Clive fans shouldn’t feel too out of place in Mechstermination Force though, as Bertil Hörberg has confirmed that this new game takes place in the same universe and features Gunman Clive as a playable character.
Bertil Hörberg also seems very glad to finally be putting out a new title next month. “I am so happy to finally be able to share my next title with the world…There have been many scrapped ideas following Gunman Clive in the lead up to this, but all worth it as I am immensely proud of Mechstermination Force. It plays beautifully and features some truly devious bosses, I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did making it!”
Mechstermination Force will come out exclusively for Nintendo Switch at launch on April 4. If you want to learn more about the game, you check out the reveal trailer below as well as our interview with Bertil Hörberg where we really dive into gameplay details regarding Mechstermination Force.
