MMORPG title MapleStory 2 will be getting a battle royale mode…
Sigh.
I’m sorry, I just need a moment to center myself before writing this news out. Saying “Title X is getting a battle royale mode” has become as commonplace as saying a game has been made with former members of the Bioshock team at this point. But MapleStory 2? That’s the next title stepping up to the Thunderdome to claim the Murder-Death-Kill crown? Really?
Okay, I guess. Let’s talk news.
So, yeah, MapleStory 2 is getting a battle royale mode called the “Mushking Royale” mode. A closed beta is currently available on Nexon’s website for the upcoming new modes, which you can check out here if you’re interested in signing up. The closed beta for MapleStory 2 is planned to run from July 18 through August 1, 2018, though Mushking Royale will be specifically playable from July 20 through July 22.
There are a couple of ways for you to get yourself into that closed beta, including:
- Monster Invasion Retweet Events: Social media events hosted on the official @PlayMaple2 Twitter channel where players will be able to win beta keys;
- Tria’s Tournament: A website event is running from July 2 to July 12 with special in-game rewards for participants who vote for their favorite class and share their results. Select participants from this tournament will receive access to Closed Beta 2;
- Razer Partnership: Razer, a world leader in connected devices and software for gamers, will provide fans with beta code giveaways.
Additionally, the beta will be testing out some new features, updates, and other goodies for Maplers. Those who play the battle royale will get a cosmetic reward upon the mode’s official launch.
The Mushking Royale mode will have up to 50 players battle against each other until only one winner survives…yep. Unique features of this mode include wall climbing, jumping through obstacles, hiding in bushes, and raising a characters strength by defeating monsters. Then, when you’re feeling confident and spicy, you can start your goal to become the last Highlander and claim the Prize to…I mean, beat your fellow Maplers in a totally friendly and adorable competition of skill, cunning, and strength.
Yep.
MapleStory 2 is currently available on PC, and sign-ups for the closed beta are available on Nexon’s website. It is a free-to-play MMORPG and now battle royale title because sure, why not.
