Popular opinion of Lebron James is a lot like the cover of the NBA 2k series– it changes every year. Love him or hate him, whether you think he’s the greatest basketball player to walk the earth or the most overrated one, there’s absolutely no denying that James has permeated the zeitgeist of an entire generation of basketball fans. Throwing fuel into the never-ending conversation about how James stacks up against other basketball greats, developer Take-Two Interactive has announced that none other than Lebron James himself will appear on the cover of NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition.
This announcement marks the second time that James will appear alone on a cover in the NBA 2k franchise, first appearing as a member of the Miami Heat back on the cover of NBA 2k14. Of course, times have changed, and James (an Ohio native) has since returned to play basketball for his home state’s team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. This news comes at a time when James is in the midst of yet another NBA Finals, facing off (again) against the stacked Golden State Warriors.
