Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 has been in the back of everyone’s minds as we have slowly gotten closer to the game’s April 2021 release. Today, the game made some waves when Square Enix gave us an extended look at its gameplay. A Square Enix YouTube video showed off the flashy combat and some sandy temple environments. The voice acting in the video was in English which gave us a surprising look into the Nier Replicant voice actors: Laura Bailey and Liam O’Brien have returned to the series.
Understanding the relevance of this news took me a little bit of time and reserach. So if you’re unaware, let’s catch you up to speed. Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 serves as a prequel to 2017’s Nier Automata. It also serves as a remake of 2010’s Nier Replicant (or simply Nier to everyone outside of Japan.)
The English voice cast for Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 hasn’t yet been officially announced. However, it seems like Square Enix was ready to announce Laura Bailey and Liam O’Brien’s return as Nier Replicant voice actors. The pair voiced characters in the original Nier Replicant and it seems like they’re reprising their roles as Kaine and Grimoire Weiss respectively.
This is only the second look we’ve had at Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139, following its reveal trailer from the Game Awards, and the first English voiced footage we’ve seen of the game. So right now it’s unclear if other actors from the original Nier Replicant will be returning to their roles.
