After Just Cause 3 struggled to run on Xbox One and PS4, Avalanche Studios decided to overhaul their game engine for the next installment Just Cause 4.
Today, a new trailer has been released that shows off just what those drastic new changes are in the Apex Engine, the name of the engine utilized in Just Cause 4. As the biggest game engine that Avalanche Studios has ever developed, Apex improves the graphics, physics, and allows for dynamic weather systems in Just Cause 4, which is something that couldn’t previously have been achieved.
When I saw Just Cause 4 in a hands-off demo last month at E3, these changes that Avalanche made to the engine stood out to me more than anything else. While there are a lot of cool new items to utilize in the game, the use of Apex will hopefully iron out any issues that players might’ve had with the previous entry in the series while also taking the destructibility that Just Cause is known for to new heights.
You can find this new video showing off the new power of the Apex Engine in Just Cause 4 below. Just Cause 4 is slated to release later this year on December 4 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If you like what you see in today’s video, you can head over to Amazon to pre-order a copy of the game right now.
