For those who’ve missed out on La-Mulana 2’s initial release on PC earlier this year, the adorable platformer from Japanese indie outfit Nigoro is making its way to home consoles.
La-Mulana 2 is a cute 2D platformer that expands into a Metroidvania-style experience. In it, you play as Lumisa Kosugi as she traverses the ancient ruins of Eg-Lana in order to stop an evil force which has awakened. To do so, she must do battle with an assortment of monsters, solve puzzles, and find her way through a maze of caverns filled with deadly traps.
Sporting a retro-inspired ’80s art-style and small sprites, La-Mulana 2 leaves lots of room on the screen for platforming and allows for massive monsters which dwarf Lumisa during the game’s boss battles. The game’s main character, daughter of the 2005 original La-Mulana protagonist Lemeza Kosugi, is armed with a whip and looks like she has taking a few ideas from iconic motion picture archaeologist Indiana Jones.
La-Mulana 2 is due for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the Spring of 2019 as a digital download from their receptive online stores. There is also a psychical release in the works, but as of yet there is no word on when it will be hitting store shelves. La-Mulana 2 is available now on PC through GOG and Steam. It will also be playable on the showroom floor of Tokyo Games Show this week.
