Journey for Elysium is a VR adventure title set to put players in a world inspired by ancient mythology, and the launch trailer shows off what players can expect from the gameplay.
Developed by Mantis Games, Journey for Elysium pits the player up against “increasingly elaborate” challenges in the underworld with the end goal being to reach Elysium and obtain redemption. Your character, after ending up on the wrong side of the grass, slowly learns about his past as the story progresses. Challenges are completed by locating clues and fiddling with mystic entities from the looks of things.
The game seems to host a rather stylized monochromatic feel, boasting various shades of greys and dull blues with orange and yellows being the exception. The style inspired by Gustave Doré’s paintings.
Players will also find themselves rowing a boat using Journey for Elysium’s rowing mechanics. Of course, when players aren’t rowing they’re going to be on foot, and this comes with two methods of moving around in VR. Immersive mode allows full control by using the analog sticks to move around, and Comfort mode allows the player to teleport around to reduce potential motion-sickness.
Journey for Elysium looks to take up 10GB of storage space and is due to launch today for PC on Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR systems.
