With a little under two weeks left until SoulCalibur VI launches on consoles and PC, the character reveals are coming thick and fast. Returning swordsman Raphael was the latest to join the cast, and today we were treated to the footage of the shape-shifting Inferno.
Inferno is the embodiment of the title’s central weapon, the Soul Edge. This veteran antagonist has the ability to take the form of other fighters within the game, similar to Tekken’s Mokujin. When transformed, Inferno has access to the character of choice’s move-set and weapon.
Throughout the trailer we see the blazing beast wreaking havoc on a number of the series’ classic warriors including Maxi, Yoshimitsu, Kilik, and Mitsurugi, with a flurry of lightning-fast attacks. Each strike feels like it carries significant weight as he propels his opponents into the air or sends them plummeting earthwards.
Inferno will be joining the jam-packed cast of characters lined up for the game’s release which includes classic returning fighters like Cervantes as well and mysterious newcomers such as Azwel. SoulCalibur III’s fan-favourite Tira can also be added to the roster via DLC.
SoulCalibur VI will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC from October 19, 2018. The much-anticipated 3D fighter can be pre-ordered from Amazon now.
