As you may already know, IO Interactive recently revealed that Steam players who own Hitman 2 on their accounts won’t be able to bring its locations into Hitman 3 on Epic Games Store unless they buy an Access Pass for it, which will be available with 80% off in the first two weeks of Hitman 3‘ launch. However, now it seems IO Interactive is working on a solution to get rid of this confusing situation.
Each one of the Hitman games in The World of Assassination trilogy has a different publisher and that’s why IO Interactive is facing such an issue in including all the entries of the series in one final package that will be published by the Danish developer itself. However, the situation for Hitman 1 is better than Hitman 2. Since it’s available on Epic Games Store and there was a free giveaway for it last year, most of the game’s fans now own it on their EGS accounts. Even if you don’t, you can get it for free by pre-ordering or purchasing Hitman 3 in its first 10 days of launch.

However, people who own Hitman 1 on Steam and wouldn’t be able to buy Hitman 3 in its first 10 days of launch, will face the same problem in adding that game’s locations to Hitman 3 as they face with transferring Hitman 2. This is probably something that IO Interactive should straight out with Square Enix and Warner Bros. Interactive as the previous publishers of the Hitman series. Even Epic’s Tim Sweeney made it clear that they are doing whatever they can to solve this problem and avoid players from repurchasing their Steam games on Epic Games Store.
Hitman 3 is going to be available on January 20th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and PC. Also, a VR version of the game will be coming exclusively to PSVR on the same day.
