Developer CD Projekt Red announced its free-to-play title Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will receive a new Arena game mode. The videos below give us an idea of what to expect from the latest addition.
The rules of Arena are pretty simple. You will create a deck using any card available in the game and play to earn rewards; the more you win, the better the rewards are. The game ends when a player garners nine wins or three losses.
Unlike the other game modes, Arena lets you choose cards from any faction, as well as multiple copies of any card. However, the cards you acquire are picked from a group of four randomly chosen cards. Your deck is completed when you have picked 26 cards and a leader.
In order to play the new game mode, a new in-game item called Mirror Shards must be turned in to Gaunter O’Dimm — seen in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion Hearts of Stone — which can be collected by using real or in-game currency. To celebrate the launch, players who log in to Gwent will receive three Mirror Shards until March 7th, 2018.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game‘s Arena mode is available right now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
