As a wall hanger sword it will suffice, but for anything more robust or intimidating than a piece of wood as thick as a six year old's wrist, you are out of luck. Has a 1/8" rib running down each side, which is where they get the 1/2" from. The 1st time I tried to use the 300 sword I was cutting bamboo stalks. It looks good, very heavy, but I can tell it was not heat tempered and will break or shatter easily. This sword is top quality. I just got the sword and the tip of the sword already broke off. Just first impression but two swords could trap break or parry just about any other form of blade.
