GRIS had been performing surprisingly well since its initial release. According to a past tweet from the studio: “Gris has been out for one week and our team is overwhelmed by the incredible reception and thrilled that the game is already profitable! Thank you all so much for your support!”
A few months after, the studio announced that GRIS surpassed over 300,000 copies sold since its release last December. In celebration of the news, Nomada Studio revealed that a free update had been released, which included unused music and designs available to view in the main menu.
A year later the official Twitter account for Rainbow Six: Siege celebrated the game’s first anniversary and congratulated Nomada Studio on its The Game Awards win, in which it won the Games for Impact category. The account also announced that players could get a free weapon skin inspired by the game.
Originally the title released for PC, but later came out for PS4 with plenty of quality of life changes. It then received a physical Nintendo Switch bundle version and also released for iOS and iPad. You can read our PC review for GRIS here.
The game follows a girl named Gris, who wakes up in the palm of a crumbling statue of a woman. She attempts to sing out, but quickly becomes choked up and the statue’s hands crumble, dropping her to the colorless earth below. After landing, the girl continues walking forward and discovers a number of strange structures that seem to be powered by mysterious points of light resembling stars. The girl can collect these lights to gain new abilities, such as turning into a block of stone, and to create new pathways made of constellations.
