Two new Granblue Fantasy Versus trailers dropped during the FES 2019 event this weekend, revealing new DLC characters as well as season pass characters. First up is the villains trailer featuring Belial and the Chaos Bringer — the enigmatic Astral in the black cloak — and the two are up to their old tricks again. Not only will they appear as RPG mode villains but playable versions of these characters will also be available through future updates and DLC:
In the “Character Pass 1” trailer, we find out the release dates for Chaos Bringer, Narmaya, Soriz, and Djeeta — the first two fighters will be coming out in March 2020 and second two in April 2020. The trailer description also reveals that the last character character will be announced in March 2020:
Granblue Fantasy Versus releases in Japan for PS4 on February 6, 2020. There will be a release in the West, but it currently has a Q1 2020 window. Cygames held the Granblue Fantasy FES 2019 this weekend, on December 14th-15th. It’s an annual, huge event held in Japan for fans of the franchise, whose mobile RPG is among the most popular mobage in the world. During the event, Cygames shared new trailers and gameplay, revealing Lancelot, Vane, Percival, and Siegfried as playable characters. Granblue Fantasy Relink Director Tetsuya Fukuhara also shared a development update, most notably details about the game’s release date.
Granblue Fantasy Relink was initially produced by both Cygames and Platinum Games. However, in early 2019, the title switched to a 100% Cygames in-house production, with Platinum Games leaving the project. Director Tetsuya Fukuhara explained that since then, Cygames has been working on Granblue Fantasy Relink‘s engine to improve it.
