There’s a lot to be excited about with the latest God of War; the combat, the new emphasis on story and characterization, and the stunning graphics. What’s maybe the game’s most impressive achievement though is that at no point in the entire length of God of War will the camera ever cut.

In a recent video from Sony, developers at Sony Santa Monica have described the process behind this feat to ensure that players never experience any loading screens or errors of any kind. Dori Arazi, the director of photography for God of War, explains that this one continuous shot style that they were going for allows the player to empathize much more with the characters. The video also shows off many behind-the-scenes looks at motion capture sessions for God of War that give us a better look at just how detailed and specific the team had to be with these one-shot scenes.

It’s been a big week for God of War as the game has received a ton of new videos and trailers as Sony gears up for launch next month. Just last weekend, a new commercial featuring Kratos and Atreus was released while two new gameplay videos offering some of our first extended looks at God of War’s combat were also posted a few days ago. Also worth mentioning is that Cory Barlog revealed that God of War went gold earlier in the week guaranteeing that the game will release right on schedule.

You can find today’s video in question at the bottom of this article for your viewing pleasure. If you aren’t already counting down the days on your calendar, God of War is slated to release on April 20, exclusively on the PS4.
