Soon after the launch of the Genshin Impact Ver 1.4 Invitation of Windblume preview site, several players found out the site’s source code files included a pretty peculiar sight, an image asset showing Childe, or Tartaglia, topless, which could hint at a new skin. Many fans initially though this to be fanart, but this is truly official and from the ver 1.4 preview site.
How do you find that Childe image?
You simply need to access the Ver 1.4 preview site, and check the source files. You can do that by hitting Ctrl+ Shift + E, and then reloading the page. The Network window which opened then on your browser should list all the files on the page.

Genshin Impact fans on Reddit and Twitter, later on, reused the asset to try and imagine what a shirtless costume version of Childe could look like:

Will we get Summer Costumes and Skins for Childe?
For now, this is actually not happening, sadly. As several fans pointed out on Twitter, the reason why this shirtless asset for Childe exists on the site is for animation purposes. It’s a necessary asset for the animation of his portrait on his dedicated page.
when you do that type of animation, you have to separate the moving parts from each other, and since childes clothes are flying around, they have to draw a torso underneath so that when the clothes flow farther away theres skin underneath it. someone found the source files for it

However, it’s definitely fun to see how much care was put into designing Childe’s upper half. Showing once again miHoYo is made of huge otaku. And letting us imagine what a swimsuit or summer-themed skin for Childe could look like in Genshin Impact.

However, this doesn’t mean we couldn’t get a summer outfit of the kind of Chile in the long run. In the past, miHoYo teased Genshin Impact in the future can get systems such as a housing system, a farming system, and alternate costumes, or skins. We’ll be sure to tell you the day it does happen.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5 via backward compatibility, and Mobile. The game was also announced on Switch. However, miHoYo did not announce a release date for Nintendo’s platform yet.
