miHoYo published a new Q&A with the Genshin Impact devs, confirming we’ll get the Moonchase Festival in the future – and now many fans are expecting Baizhu and Dendro characters to release together with this event.

What’s the Moonchase Festival?
The Moonchase Festival is a festival held in Liyue, like the Lantern Festival. The event was first mentioned by miHoYo in October 2020, when the 1.1 to 1.3 roadmap was published. It’s one of the many yearly festivals that will be held in Genshin Impact.
The Moonchase Festival is also based on a real holiday held in October. Meaning it should be added to Genshin Impact with the 1.8 update in September 2021. Assuming the six week schedule between each update carries on till then.
Link between Moonchase Festival, Dendro character Yaoyao
miHoYo shared back in October 2020 an official artwork picturing the Moonchase Festival. The artwork features Paimon, Qiqi and Yaoyao. While she’s an unreleased character, Yaoyao’s existence isn’t a secret.
She’s referenced by several characters in-game. Xiangling most notably mention she trained under the same master as Yaoyao. We also know Yaoyao is a Dendro character.

Seeing how intricate Genshin Impact is, it’s highly likely none of this is a coincidence, and Yaoyao will be releasing with the Moonchase Festival. Furthermore, it’s all but confirmed players will get Yaoyao for free if she’s the first ever 4* Dendro character. That way, every player would have gotten one character of each element for free.
Genshin Impact – Dendro release and Baizhu banner coming in 1.8?
Together with Yaoyao, miHoYo would release the Baizhu gacha banner, with Baizhu being the first playable 5 star Dendro character. And coming with the Moonchase Festival, which should be released in 1.8. That’s the reasoning most fans had after that Q&A, myself included.
