Esports gaming platform UMG recently announced an official partnership with Xbox Game Studios to operate and broadcast the Gears 5 Esports Challenger Series Finals. As a consistent home for competitive Gears of War, UMG boasts an online platform that connects more than 2.2 million gamers around the world. UMG’s studio team is streaming the official Gears Esports Challenger Series Finals every Wednesday for North America and Latin America. The broadcasts started on Jan. 22 and run through to the end of the Gears of War season. Torque Esports, the corporation behind UMG, is embracing the success Gears of War has attracted.
“We’re honored to have been selected to operate the Gears Esports Challenge Series Finals broadcast by Microsoft,” said Darren Cox, Torque Esports President and CEO. “It highlights the successes we have seen through UMG and the capabilities that the UMG studio team has to start up a new stream for partners.”
The UMG platform has generated more than 20 million views and has paid out more than $3 million in prize money.

With Gears 5 being Microsoft’s biggest launch of last year, it makes sense to put the spotlight on the title’s competitive side. However, this partnership could potentially spark the inclusion of other esports and projects. For now, the Gears 5 scene promises to deliver action-packed coverage and high prize pools. The Gears 5 Esports program will provide more opportunities for players of all skill levels to compete in a season providing more than $2 million worth of prizes.
