Last month, fledgling publisher Modus Games revealed that they would be working alongside Frozenbyte Game to release Trine 4. That sequel is pegged to release in 2019 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, though that last platform was surprising considering the series hadn’t made an appearance on the Switch yet.
Fortunately, the will be changing soon as Frozenbyte revealed their plans to bring Trine Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story, and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power to the hybrid console. Those plans actually begin today, as Trine Enchanted Edition was just released on Nintendo Switch for $14.99.
Trine Enchanted Edition, if you couldn’t tell, is the start of Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya’s adventure, and initially released on PS3 in 2009. This will be the same “enhanced” version of the game with all previously released content that came to PS4 and Wii U. The Nintendo Switch version of Trine Enchanted Edition still supports local and online multiplayer, runs at 30fps in 1080p when docked, and at 30fps in 720p when in handheld mode.
As for Trine 2: The Complete Story and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, no release window was given. That being said, Frozenbyte did say to except those two games to come to Nintendo Switch “soon after” Trine Enchanted Edition, so they shouldn’t be too far off and will almost certainly arrive before the release of Trine 4.
The release of Frozenbyte’s entire Trine series on Nintendo Switch just adds to the developer’s avid support of the console. Has-Been Heroes was released on Nintendo Switch shortly after the system’s launch, and Nine Parchments hit the system alongside PC, PS4, and Xbox One last fall. After all the Trine games release on the hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch will be home to all but four of Frozenbyte’s game.
You can watch a trailer revealing that the entire Trine series is coming to Nintendo Switch below. For those of you planning to pick these games up on Nintendo’s latest platform, Trine Enchanted Edition is already available for $14.99.
