Frantic 90s Shooter Forsaken Gets a HD Makeover

Forsaken Remastered, News, NightDive Studios, Originals, PC, Probes Entertainment, Trailers, Xbox One

The latest in a string of classic 1990s hits to receive a HD rework is Probe Entertainment’s Forsaken.

Originally released all the way back in April of 1998 for PlayStation, N64 and PC, Forsaken was a 360-degree sci-fi shooter with gameplay akin to the likes of Descent. This particular sub-genre allowed for virtually limitless movement on the player’s behalf. Adjusting the orientation of your vessel in real time meant that the players had complete control to fly in any direction with ease; gravity was not a factor here.

Nightdive Studios, the people behind the recent HD updates for Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for Xbox One and PC will be fronting the operation. Forsaken Remastered will be playing it as close to the bone as possible in order to recreate an authentic representation of the original game. There will still be a low polygon count to ensure that the graphics are bursting with 90s nostalgia, but the game will now run at a smooth 60 FPS.

Forsaken Remastered will launch on July 31 for Xbox One and PC. This release will also feature content previously only exclusive to N64.

The trend of remastering classic games for modern consoles seems to be continuously gaining strength with Mega Man Legacy X Collection 1 + 2 also launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC earlier this week.
