During Microsoft’s X018 Inside Xbox, Playground Games revealed Fortune Island, the first expansion for its critically acclaimed open-world racer, Forza Horizon 4. It will be heading to Xbox One December 13, 2018.
In a video featuring Ben Thaker-Fell, Forza Horizon 4‘s Chief Game Designer, we got the first look at the “largest expansion” that has been implemented to the Forza Horizon series. Fortune Island will feature some of the roughest terrains the Horizon Festival has to offer like ravines and clifftop roads. It will also have the longest stretch of paved mountain switchbacks Playground Games has made.
Those who buy Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition of the game would not only get VIP access, the Car Pass, and a couple of car packs at launch but also the next two expansions. The Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 ($79.99 for Game Pass subscribers). If you just want the expansion pass, which includes Fortune Island and an unnamed second expansion, it will cost $34.99.
Forza Horizon 4 was initially revealed during Microsoft’s E3 press conference at E3 2018 where it was revealed the game would be set in Britain. The newest and most prominent feature is the inclusion of seasons which change weekly. Each season will also feature new events to play and rewards to attain.
In other recent Forza Horizon 4 news, it seems that the open-world racer has been doing pretty well. In just its first week, the game had accrued 2 million players. They also gave some other neat statistics such as how many hours of gameplay had been watched across different streaming platforms, how many miles driven, and how many properties purchased in-game.
Forza Horizon 4 is available now for Xbox One and PC. Those who are Game Pass subscribers can play the game right now at no extra cost. If you want to see what we thought of the game, you can check out our review here.
