MixedBag Games’ Metroidvania title forma.8 finally released on PC, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U after being in development for a long time back in February. In August, the developers released the game on Nintendo Switch, which forma.8 has done quite well on. Earlier this month MixedBag Games teased that they were creating a demo of the game for the Switch, and today, they revealed it released in Japan.
The demo is currently available on the Japanese eShop, so players can download it on their system directly from forma.8’s page in the store. The Nintendo Switch is not region locked, so those with Japanese accounts on the system can also try the demo out at this time. Players in North America and Europe won’t have to wait too long though because MixedBag Games also confirmed on Twitter that the demo for forma.8 will be releasing in those regions sometime in January of 2018.

For those of you who don’t know, forma.8 is a Metroidvania game where players follow the titular probe after it gets separated from the ship it was on. Players’ goal in the game is to look for a lost power source to get off the planet, and do so in typical Metroidvania fashion, exploring the labyrinth of a planet that the game takes place on and gaining new power to access new areas as they progress. The game runs at 1080p and 60fps on the Switch and supports the system’s unique playstyles and controllers.
forma.8 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Wii U, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. If you want to see DualShockers’ thoughts on the game, you can check out our review.
