We are less than a week out from the next rotation of PS Plus games so Sony Interactive Entertainment, as usual, has unveiled February 2019’s free titles. February is set to be a great month for the service too, as members will be able to snag Ubisoft’s For Honor, IO Interactive’s Hitman: The Complete First Season, Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Iron Galaxy’s Divekick, and more.

Overall, February 2019 is set to be an important month for the service. First off, Sony is expanding PS Plus’ cloud storage to be 100GB instead of 10 GB, which should definitely help players like myself who are already having trouble keeping space open on an upgraded 2TB hard drive. That being said, the most notable thing about February 2019’s lineup is that it will be the final month of PS Plus to feature games from PS3 and PS Vita.

Considering that free PS3 games have been part of the service since 2010, this is a very major change and signifies how Sony is moving away from supporting last-gen platforms. As February 2019’s lineup is the swan song for PS3 and PS Vita games, I can’t help been find it somewhat fitting that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is featured. You can see the full lineup across all three platforms, for the final time, below:

  • For Honor (PS4)
  • Hitman: The Complete First Season (PS4)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
  • Divekick (PS3 and PS Vita)
  • Gunhouse (PS Vita and PS4)
  • Rogue Aces (PS Vita and PS4)

While this PS Plus lineup is set to change once more on March 5, these PS3 and PS Vita games will actually be available to download until March 8. The PlayStation Blog post revealing this lineup states that “any PS3 and PS Vita games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019 will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member.”

This seems to suggest that any and all PS Plus titles you want to use on those consoles must be downloaded by March 8 or you may risk it being removed from your account. This may prove frustrating to those hoping to stockpile games before eventually picking up a PS Vita or PS3 down the road.

As I’ve mentioned before, the PS4 games within this PlayStation Plus lineup will be available through March 5, while the PS3 and PS Vita games can be downloaded until support for those systems concludes on March 8, 2019. If this month has finally enticed you to pick up a year long membership, you can currently do so on Amazon.

UPDATE: Sony has clarified their statement on PS3 and PS Vita games only being available until March 8. When responding to a commenter, PlayStation Blog’s James Hallahan responded: “Adding them to your library will suffice. You will retain all games you have in your PS Plus library.”
