After quite a wait, Final Fantasy XV delivered fans the long-awaited latest chapter in the beloved RPG series back in late 2016, and now it appears that an upcoming re-release of the game may give players a new opportunity to enjoy the epic fantasy RPG.
A new ESRB listing has appeared on the ratings board’s website for Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, which has been rated for PS4 and Xbox One. No official word has come yet from Square Enix about the release of a new version of the game, and the description for the new edition is largely identical to that of the game’s original release.
While there’s no firm confirmation about what the “Royal Edition” exactly is, the most likely candidate would be a “Game of the Year Edition” of Final Fantasy XV that (presumably) would include the original title and its post-launch DLC and updates. Obviously, this may include the “Episode” DLCs for each of the game’s main characters, such as Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis, along with the recently-added “Comrades” multiplayer expansion, and more.
While we don’t know for sure yet if this is a reality until Square Enix makes an announcement, it would make sense for Square Enix to release a new version compiling all of the game’s post-launch content and updates, including the recent update to introduce Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus as playable characters.
Final Fantasy XV is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, and will be heading to PC later this year
