DOOM Eternal has proven itself to work surprisingly well in tandem with other game franchises. With its release in March, the internet went wild with crossovers between the Doom Slayer and Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Naturally, with Final Fantasy VII Remake arriving today, having the Doom Slayer paired with Cloud seems like the next best thing.
In celebration of the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake today on PS4, Bethesda Softworks and id Software released a special piece of artwork featuring the Doom Slayer. Of course, the artwork itself is a fitting homage to the key art of FFVII Remake with Cloud and his Buster Sword overlooking the city of Midgar and the Shinra Electric Power Company. However, in this version it’s the Doom Slayer overlooking the depths of Hell while wielding his badass sword, the Crucible.
It’s a fitting tribute to this long-anticipated remake, and a great remix of FFVII‘s iconic art in the style of DOOM Eternal. You can check out the full artwork below from Bethesda:

After so many years in development, fans seem like they’re in for a ride with FFVII Remake. Given the love and admiration that so many have for the original Final Fantasy VII, already fans have taken to the internet to share their fan art and excitement for FFVII Remake. Square Enix themselves even shared a stunning new piece of art by director and producer Tetsuya Nomura featuring the one and only Cloud Strife. The reunion has finally arrived, indeed.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available now on PS4, while DOOM Eternal is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version of DOOM Eternal is also expected to arrive later this year.
