Earlier this week, Square Enix informed fans that because of ongoing shipping issues that stem from the coronavirus pandemic, the physical release of Final Fantasy VII Remake could be impacted for some. While Square said it was still actively moving forward with the game’s April 10 release date, they said the status with retail partners might be changing. To keep fans further informed, it was promised that a new update would be arriving on Friday, March 20, which is today.
Well, Square Enix released that new update for Final Fantasy VII Remake today and it really didn’t amount to much. In Square’s latest statement, it was said that the publisher has seen many of the comments and questions that have come through in light of plans potentially changing. Rather than answering any of these questions today, however, it was said that Square will need more time until next week to provide any additional updates. Until then, it was once again verified that the release date of Final Fantasy VII Remake won’t be changing.

Honestly, it seemed pretty hopeful in the first place that Square Enix would have anything new to share today with this ongoing story. After all, their first update on the physical release plans for FFVIIR only came about a mere two days ago. For anything to have drastically shifted over that period of time seemed doubtful. Still, it’s good that Square Enix is trying its best to keep fans in the loop whenever possible. This is especially true since many fans who have potentially already pre-ordered physical iterations of the game might opt to cancel their order soon in favor of the digital version if their copy of the title is confirmed to not be showing up at launch.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will finally arrive on April 10, exclusively for the PS4. We’ll keep you posted on further updates with this story as they continue to come about.
