IO Interactive will work some magic to reduce the size of Hitman 3 to around 100GB. The game will come with not only the third installment in the series but also the previous two titles, all of which will be playable in PSVR.
A developer from IO Interactive (via PC GamesN) shared some factoids about the game over on ResetEra. The developer stated: “We have managed to get the size of the game down significantly. All three games with all content will take up around 100GB. Biggest wins are because of data management and file structures and how we deliver the game so we could remove duplicate data. We also use newer and better compression for textures – that helps too.”
On top of smaller file sizes, the devs at IO Interactive are also making upgrades to how Hitman 1 and 2 look. The developer stated: “We upgraded the engine with screenspace reflections.” They continued: “Best thing? It’s backwards compatible with the previous two games in the trilogy and lots of surfaces has been upgraded.”
The first two titles in the series were incredible, so of course, I am happy to see that they will get bundled into the third game. The two games were so similar that bundling them together just makes sense. It is also nice to see that they will both be getting a fresh new set of paint as well.
Hitman 3 will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and PC in January 2021. The Virtual Reality version will be exclusive to PSVR.
