We are deep into Team of the Season So Far season in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team. This period of the game brings out each league’s biggest and brightest with brand new promo cards that boast insane stats. Last week, we had the English Premier League, and now the Spanish La Liga gets their turn. As expected after how juiced the Prem was, these La Liga players are absolutely nasty. Check out the squad below.

There are some real bangers in that team. Obviously, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is just disgusting. It also looks like a boost on his 99-rated Team of the Year card as it drops stats from defending and puts them into pace and shooting. I don’t know about you, but there aren’t many times I’m defending with a Messi in FIFA 20. Elsewhere, that Luis Suarez card is going to be a terror, and if you can somehow pair him and Messi up with that 96-rated Antoine Griezmann, you’re going to have a nasty Barca frontline. The club also has Marc ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong in the team.
Outside of Barca, Real Madrid looks like the big winner here. Raphael Varane didn’t need 95 pace to be one of the best centerbacks in the game, but he has it and every other defensive stat you’re looking for. You can also pair him with a Sergio Ramos that also boasts a big pace increase, this time to 91. That twosome is just filthy for the current FIFA 20 meta. You can also grab boosted cards for Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, and Carvajal. Kroos, in particular looks like a dream.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid’s Jan Oblak gets a well-deserved card and that Santi Cazorla card looks extra spicy. There are several other good cards here, but the last I’ll mention is Diego Carlos, who gives La Liga a trio of useable, end-game centerbacks. After the Premier League only had that incredible Virgil Van Dijk, a decent Soyuncu, and a very meh Harry Maguire, this is a welcome change of pace (pun intended).
Of course, the main squad isn’t the only way to upgrade your team. FIFA 20 also gets two new objective players today in Reguilon and Mariano. Mariano, in particular, is a must-do as he only requires you to play squad battles against the CPU. That said, Reguilon’s objectives don’t look impossible to finish or anything. The SBC section feels a little barebones today, with only Saul Niguez added. He’s a decent enough player, but not someone I’m personally going to go gaga over. The rumors had Ansu Fati as the player coming today. Hopefully, that card comes in the next few days because he’ll be insta-completed by a large swathe of the community.
FIFA 20 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. With the madness of TOTSSF going on right now, this might be an excellent time to hop into Ultimate Team and try out some nutty players. Just, you know, don’t buy FIFA points.
