The latest FIFA 20 promo is FUT Birthday, a celebration of Ultimate Team’s beginning. After a week in packs, the first team has been replaced with team two. Like team one, it’s filled with big names from the major five leagues and not much else. That’s not a bad thing. But, as a USA supporter, it’d be nice for some of the lesser leagues and nations to get some love. We need those Ike Opara links EA! Anyways, check out the full team below.

As always, the second team in a promo is smaller than the first. In this case, the second team features 11 players in packs compared to the first team’s 14. Depending on which players you’re wanting, this could be a good thing. If you’re lucky enough to pack a player during the promo, it might be slightly more likely to get someone you want. That said, with how secretive EA continues to be about pack weight, who really knows?
The big name in team two is obviously Paul Pogba. The French star has been injured this season and has yet to get a promo card. Undoubtedly, his card alone will sell packs for EA as many in the community have been chomping at the bit for a useable Pogba. Elsewhere, players like Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, PSG’s Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, and Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk stand out as players that will be very popular in the promo. And, of course, guys like Douglas Costa and Theo Hernadez are going to be fun players that generate some hype. If you wanted, you could pair Hernadez with his older brother Lucas, who had a card in the first FUT Birthday squad.
As far as objective players, you can get Tiemoue Bakayoko in Rivals matches and Jhon Cordoba through Squad Battles. Cordoba is a bit of an odd choice considering the reward from this season’s objectives is also a Bundesliga Striker in Josh Sargent. I suppose you could pair the two, but I think most would have preferred some extra variety.
Speaking of variety, it’s worth mentioning that of the 34 players in FUT Birthday thus far 12 of them are French. Germany is the next closest with five. I get it. France has some really great players, but the lack of variety is disappointing. For reference, during the Shapeshifters promo, Brazil had the most players at five. We really couldn’t get one more player from a minor nation? It’s a bit ridiculous.
Of course, the promo is far from over. There will likely be at least two more player SBCs, which is a great place for EA to add in players from smaller leagues and nations. Today, they added Malang Sarr (another French player) and it would be a surprise if we don’t get another tomorrow. Plus, the guaranteed FUT Birthday player pack SBC is likely coming next week. Given how expensive the players are, I would expect it to be a pricey SBC. That said, it might be worth the risk if you have extra untradeable players in your club.
FIFA 20 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The FUT Birthday promo runs through next Friday.
