Were you (among the many) let down by Fallout 76? Are you wishing you were in the good ol’ Fallout days–specifically Fallout: New Vegas? Well you’re in luck — the Fallout 4 mod project that is adding in New Vegas is around the corner. Titled Fallout 4 New Vegas, the development team of modders is recreating and remastering New Vegas within the Fallout 4 engine. Even better, a pack of new screenshots from the development team showcase some familiar-looking desert landscapes with brand new fidelity.
Seen in the Twitter post below, the Fallout 4 New Vegas team wants to kick off 2020 right with introducing some of the work they have been tinkering on. Specifically, their take on some of the more northern settings in the Mojave Wasteland:
To start the year off right, why not take a moment to enjoy a little preview of some of our more northern work on the F4NV Mojave worldspace? pic.twitter.com/VCrdVd8gmX

As you can see, the introduction of the Fallout 4 engine and components does wonders in adding some realization to the world. As a quick point of comparison, you can check out the photo below of what the original Fallout: New Vegas looked like on the limited tech from last generation:
This is to say that we are working with a clearly talented development team, and it will be interesting to see how this project continues to emerge.
Additionally, the Fallout 4 New Vegas team used these posts as a springboard to address some questions about the project from the community. When asked if DLC from the original game would be supported, the team responded that there are currently no plans until the full mod is released. When asked by another gamer if the mod will be a direct port or will layer in improvements, the team clarified that they will be making some unannounced “changes to fit in seamlessly alongside the base [New Vegas] content.”
This is far from the only time that mods recreating Fallout: New Vegas has been attempted by the active community. This includes a prequel to the game, New Californian, that has been in beta since June 2019. In more official Fallout news, the Bethesda development teams have jumped from crisis to crisis in the last few months — including the disastrous announcement of the Fallout 1st subscription service or a recent bout of hackers.
There is no current set release date for when Fallout 4 New Vegas will be deploying, but we do know it will be limited to the PC. If you want to scratch your postapocalyptic itch, both Fallout 4 and 76 are available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Or, you can just pick up The Outer Worlds, but I don’t want to tell you what to do.
