Unlike all the years before, Konami won’t be launching a standalone PES title for the new season of football ahead. Actually, PES 2021 is a season update for PES 2020 which will be available on September 15 for $30.
Revealed in a brand new trailer, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update will be bringing all-new kits for the licensed clubs, along with the transfers that are about to happen in the upcoming transfer window. The update will also feature the official UEFA Euro 2020 tournament which has been postponed to Summer 2021.
The update is currently available for pre-order in different editions. Each edition contains some unique in-game items from different teams such as Bayern Munchen, Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, and Arsenal. Purchasing these editions will cost you an extra $10.
The reason behind launching PES 2021 as a season update is the fact that Konami is working on the very first next-gen entry of the series which will be developed on Unreal Engine. The game is expected to be out on PC and next-gen consoles later next year, though Konami hasn’t specified the release date yet.
Later in 2013, when Konami launched PES 2014 as the first 8th-gen entry of the series, it was criticized heavily by fans and media for delivering an unfinished product with tons of technical and gameplay issues. So, putting more effort into the first 9th-gen iteration of PES would probably be a great plan to avoid the previous mistakes.
That said, the new strategy might lead to the departure of PES fans from the series as EA Sports will be launching FIFA 21 as a brand new game coming to both current-gen and next-gen platforms.
PES 2020 Standard Edition is currently available on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One players. Also, you can purchase it on all the supported platforms with 50% off. So, if you attempt to by PES 2020 and its new 2021 update it will cost you $60 overall.
