After receiving an update back in July, Playdius is back with another update for Edge of Eternity, the kickstarted tribute to JRPGs.
The first topic in the huge update was on the Derelict Temples. Some battles will be held within some strange ruins. So the Nexus Grid will become even more important compared to your typical combat encounters because these ruins will be full of dangers. Each area will have different challenges that you will need to solve in order to progress or to obtain a reward.
The second piece of the update dove deep into the game’s lore and weapon design. The world of Edge of Eternity had been subjected to many technological accomplishments. Before the Archelites arrived, the Sanctorium was booming with new technology. The residents of Sanctorium discovered how to make tools that would be able to cut magic crystals.
To use magic and miracles, spellcasters would need crystals to channel their powers. The problem though was that natural crystals were too big or too heavy for people to carry and practice their magic. Finding tiny crystals that were small enough to carry around was a rare occurrence. Until they discovered how to split and morph them.
When those tools were created, Heryon went through a technological boom. Magic and sorcery began to flourish. Researchers began to experiment with the newfound magical equipment. The researchers discovered they could socket weapons with the crystals to give them magical powers.
But there was a second incredible technological leap. The Archelites, their own brand of mechanical technology was created. At first, the Archelites were peaceful. They presented the civilization of Heryon with technological gifts.
When the war between the Heryon and the Archelites began, civilians became wary of some of the new technology they relied on. The civilization began to resent it and suspected it of holding the source of the horrible blight that was plaguing Heryon: the Corrosion. Yet, the technological progress had gained too much momentum and not enough people were willing to give up what they had grown accustomed to.
Before the rejection of Archelites’s technology, experiments were conducted on Heryon to combine the Archelite technology and Heryon’s crystals.
Finally, the update covered some new details on Edge of Eternity’s gameplay and rules for weapon customization. Each weapon contains its own slot with unique properties, and each crystal has its own properties as well.
A weapon slot dictates the bonus wielders will receive if they inset it with a crystal. The weapon could be stat enhanced with several different kinds of custom effects that can influence the weapons associated skill.
A crystal determines the different kinds of spells or skills that you can unlock if you put it into a weapon slot, as well as some stat bonuses.
There are plenty of different choices in this system but it is built so that you will be able to customize and experiment as much as you would like.
