Picking up seven years after the story of the original game, the highly-anticipated Guacamelee! 2 will once again blend exploration and adventure with a colorful and vibrant lucha-wrestling setting, and developer DrinkBox Studios indicated that, for now, PS4 and PC will be the home of the indie sequel.
Speaking with us at PAX East, DrinkBox Studios co-founder Graham Smith spoke about the upcoming release of Guacamelee! 2, which was announced last year as a PS4 console exclusive and recently was confirmed to be coming to PC.
When asked about the game’s release beyond PS4 and PC, Smith explained that currently the studio is “not looking at other platforms” at this time, as the studio has an agreement with Sony in place for console exclusivity on PS4.
However, Smith didn’t rule outright that the game couldn’t release on other systems as he stated that “it’s always possible after we ship the game,” though the studio will “work with Sony first for the launch” of the game, which is expected to arrive sometime this summer.
Guacamelee! 2 will release for PS4 and PC this summer. Stay tuned for our upcoming preview and full interview with Graham Smith on the game coming soon.
