Today, Media Create released its weekly sales chart of the Japanese video game market.
For the week between August 7th and August 13th, it was once again Square Enix’s 3DS and PS4 game Dragon Quest XI at the tippy top of the software chart, making it a three-peat for the eleventh main series entry in the iconic franchise.
Meanwhile 3DS game The Snack World made a strong debut, charting at No.2, right ahead of Dragon Quest XI’s PS4 version which came in at No.3 (the 3DS skew came in at No.1). Rounding out the top five is two Nintendo IP: Splatoon 2 at No.4 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at No.5.
All of this week’s new additions to the Top 20 include: The Snack World at No.2, Hitman: The Complete First Season at No.6, and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 at No.8.
As for hardware, the Nintendo Switch has claimed the No.1 spot two weeks running after it was momentarily usurped by the 2DS and PS4/PS4 Pro, thanks to the launch of Dragon Quest XI.
