Doom Eternal

It’s been nearly a year since we’ve seen anything substantial related to DOOM Eternal, id Software and Bethesda’s follow-up to 2016’s DOOM. While we’re set to see a whole lot more of it next month at E3 2019, Bethesda has in the meantime shown fans something new of the game to hold them over.

Over on Twitter recently, the official DOOM account released a new piece of concept art from DOOM Eternal. The image in question is entitled “Hell Gate” and it shows off, well, the gates of Hell. We can see the DOOM Slayer in the foreground of the image standing in front of the demonic looking gate. The gate is also emblazoned with a pentagram so that you know, hey, this thing is pretty evil.

This concept art is a great reminder to me of just how cool the world design of both DOOM and DOOM Eternal are. Even though the main attraction of both games is shooting everything in sight as fast as possible, when you really take your time and examine the environments in DOOM you’ll find an incredible amount of detail within. Judging by this art, it seems like DOOM Eternal will likely have that same level of intricacy in its world as well.

If you want to check out the new concept art for yourself, you can see it in the tweet attached below. While DOOM Eternal still doesn’t have a release date, we’ll likely hear more about a launch window for the title in the coming weeks. Whenever it does arrive, it’ll be landing on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and eventually Google Stadia.
