The official Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Twitter account revealed that two more costumes will be coming to the massive Final Fantasy crossover fighting game, starting on January 9th of next year. The first costume is of Safer Sephiroth, the iconic “One-Winged Angel” final form of the main Final Fantasy VII antagonist. And the second is Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII, or specifically based on early character designs from famed artist Yoshitaka Amano:

If you’re wondering why Rinoa is a blonde here, Amano is well known for favoring blonde haired characters in general and plenty of his designs feature them in some shape or form (see the original design for FFVI‘s Terra Branford). It’s pretty nice regardless to see these designs transformed into actual outfits for the title.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has been regularly getting new characters such as Tifa from Final Fantasy VII, Gabranth from Final Fantasy XII, and the most recently announced Ardyn from Final Fantasy XV. New costumes were also added, such as both Cloud and Squall’s Kingdom Hearts looks as well as a free trial version of the game launched by the company.
It’s possible that we could eventually be seeing Zack from FFVII appear in the future. According to Game Director Takeo Kujiraoka during a TGS interview last year, he stated in his own words: “The Japanese voice actor who plays Zack even came up to me and said he wants to appear in the game, so I think we’ll have to get around to him eventually.”
DualShockers also spoke with the game director about the future of the Dissidia franchise. For fans of the older titles, Kujiraoka stated he’d be interested in trying a more traditional one-on-one game but said it wouldn’t really be possible to implement anything like that in the latest title.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now on PS4 and PC. You can also try the free-to-play version of the game on all of the previously mentioned platforms.
